Message from the Superintendent

Dear Parents and Community Members,

As I begin my thirtieth year with Comstock Public Schools, I still approach the start of each new school year with the same level of anticipation and excitement that I felt my first day of teaching! As I fondly recall my early years with our district, I was extremely proud to work for Comstock Public Schools, and that level of commitment and pride for our wonderful school district has not changed.

What I find so rewarding, however, is that I am not alone in my feelings for Comstock Public Schools. During the last few months, I have been overwhelmed by the number of people who have expressed their support and commitment to this district. I have no doubt that by working together, we will be able to meet and exceed all of our goals. What an exciting time to be a Comstock Colt!

Since June, you have probably noticed a great deal of activity at all of our buildings. Thanks to our generous and supportive community, the building and athletic improvements are well under way. Although some of the improvements aren't as exciting or visible as others (new roofs and boilers, for example), new carpet, a new drive at North Elementary, and a new football stadium are very visible signs of progress. Again, your commitment to our school district is very much appreciated; and on behalf of Comstock Public Schools, I want to thank you for your continued support. As the work continues, stay tuned for further updates and announcements on the status of these projects.

With the first day of school fast approaching, we are looking forward to welcoming back our students and their families. It is our desire to work collaboratively with parents/guardians so that our students have a successful school year. Your involvement in your child's education is critical, and we welcome your positive and active participation.

The big yellow buses will be rolling soon, and on September 2, our doors will once again be opened to welcome students back for the 2008-09 school year. We are looking forward to connecting with all our students and their families.

Again, it is our goal to build strong, positive relationships with all who are involved with Comstock Public Schools!

With Comstock Pride,

Dr. Sandy Standish
